According to the Royal Mail’s latest Business Barometer – a report that measures business growth in the UK – Welsh towns and cities are proving attractive to both established companies and new business start ups.
Swansea and Newport have now moved into the top 10 list of UK towns and cities with the highest business population growth.
Swansea’s growth has been attributed to the City’s general economic growth, resulting from regeneration activities and a structured investment programme that has improved the City and the general area surrounding it.
With this in mind, we are excited to announce the opening of our very own new business start-up in Swansea! Chapman Molony’s 2nd Welsh office (our 5th UK office) is based at Technium Digital on the Swansea University campus and will work closely with our existing Cardiff office to service the growing levels of innovation in South Wales.
The Swansea office is being run by our new consultant attorney Hedley Austin, who joined us on 1st May. Hedley is a highly experienced UK Chartered Patent Agent (CPA), European Patent Attorney (EPA) and Registered Trade Mark Attorney (RTMA). He graduated from Nottingham University with a Chemistry Degree and qualified as a patent attorney in 1979. Hedley has been based in Swansea since 1984, when he moved there to establish new offices for a large Patent and Trade Mark practice in Swansea and Cardiff. Hedley successfully grew and expanded that practice in Wales and remained a Partner there for many years prior to joining Chapman Molony.
Hedley's areas of technical expertise include: chemistry; materials science; medical inventions; and biotechnology. Hedley also specialises in trade marks and intellectual property portfolio management. He has worked with individuals, start-up companies, SMEs and multi-national corporations.
