Dr Chris Pike

Dr Chris Pike CPA EPA RTMA BSc PhD

Chris is a Chartered Patent Attorney (CPA), European Patent Attorney (EPA) and a UK Registered Trademark Agent. Chris holds a First Class Honours degree (Durham) and PhD (Cambridge) in Chemistry, and entered the patent profession in 1991. He has worked in large corporate environments (Procter & Gamble, Xerox, GlaxoSmithKline) and with smaller companies. Prior to joining Chapman Molony Chris ran his own patent practice, Pike & Co., which Chapman Molony acquired in April 2005.

Chris’ areas of technical expertise include: chemical; mechanical; software/business methods and related technology areas. He is also an expert in trade mark matters, including registration and infringement clearance work.

In addition to his professional work, Chris regularly gives presentations on the business value and uses of Intellectual Property and is the author of “Virtual Monopoly”, a leading book on this subject.

Hedley
Hedley Austin BSc CPA EPA RTMA FIILP
 
Hedley is a highly experienced UK Chartered Patent Attorney (CPA), European Patent Attorney (EPA) and Registered Trade Mark Attorney (RTMA). He graduated from Nottingham University with a Chemistry Degree and worked for a while in Derwent Publications before entering the profession.   Hedley qualified in 1979 and moved to Swansea in 1984, following which he established new offices for a large Patent and Trade Mark practice in both Swansea and Cardiff. Hedley successfully grew and expanded that practice in Wales and remained a Partner there for many years prior to joining Chapman Molony as a consultant in May 2006.
 
Hedley's areas of technical expertise include: chemistry; materials science; biotechnology and medical inventions (which includes extensive pharmaceutical work and also medical device/applications). Hedley also specialises in trade marks and intellectual property portfolio management. He has worked with individuals, start-up companies, SMEs and multi-national corporations.

Kate Rawlins CPA EPA BEng MSc DIC CEng MIMechE

Kate is a qualified UK Chartered Patent Attorney (CPA) and European Patent Attorney (EPA). She graduated from Imperial College with an Aeronautical Engineering Degree and an MSc. in Computational Fluid Dynamics and Computational Structural Mechanics. She is also a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with several years engineering experience gained in industry before she joined the patent profession in 2000 with a private practice firm of Patent Attorneys. Following this, Kate worked as Patent Engineer and subsequently IP Counsel at the BOC Group plc prior to joining Chapman Molony in June 2007.

Kate's areas of technical expertise include: vacuum pump technology; medical devices; flammability and gas explosion containment, mitigation and analysis; mechanical engineering; general engineering.

Dr Mark Thurston CPA BSc PhD FRAS

Mark is a qualified UK Chartered Patent Attorney (CPA).  He graduated from Birmingham University with a degree in Physics and Astrophysics and a PhD in Observational and Theoretical Astrophysics.  Mark worked as a software engineer in industry for several years before joining the patent profession in 2002 with a large private practice firm of patent attorneys.  He joined Chapman Molony in May 2008 and is currently awaiting the results of his European Patent Attorney final exams. 

 

Mark’s areas of technical expertise include: electronics; software and computing; automotive engines and systems; mechanical devices; and medical devices.

Dr Elliott Davies MPhys PhD  

Elliott is a part-qualified UK Patent Attorney. He obtained his Masters Degree in physics from Bath University and upon graduating was awarded the British Aerospace prize for outstanding work. Elliott also obtained his PhD from Bath University after performing experimental and theoretical research in the acoustical and optical properties of revolutionary optical fibre.

 

Elliott entered the patent profession in 2003 with one of the UK’s largest firms of patent and trademark attorneys. He joined Chapman Molony in May 2007 and is currently working toward full qualification.

 

Elliott’s areas of technical expertise include: photonics, optics, telecommunications, electrical and electronic based technologies, semiconductors, computers, software and mechanical devices. Elliott also specialises in industrial designs.

Vicky Dalton
Vicky Dalton

 
Vicky is our Practice Manager and her responsibilities include managing our accounts department and co-ordinating all patent, design and trade mark renewals.  She obtained the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys Certificate in Patent Administration in October 2005.
 

Prior to joining Chapman Molony Vicky was the accounts manager at a children’s TV program production company. And before that she had a career in the Royal Air Force as an air traffic control officer.
